How does the TravelLocal partnership work for travel agents?
TravelLocal connects you directly with vetted, locally-based DMC partners around the world. You submit your client’s travel request, and the TravelLocal team matches you with the best DMC for that destination.
From there, you plan the trip directly with the DMC partner. Once the trip is completed, TravelLocal remits your commission. You focus on your client relationships — TravelLocal handles the logistics.
How do I become a TravelLocal agent?
Simply email agents@travellocal.com with your name, contact information, and — if applicable — a link to your website. The team will be in touch to get you set up.
How and when do I get paid?
TravelLocal pays commission on all completed trips. Once your client’s trip concludes, the TravelLocal team processes and remits your commission. For specific commission rates and payment timelines, contact agents@travellocal.com.
What kinds of trips is TravelLocal best suited for?
TravelLocal excels at fully customizable, multi-day itineraries. The platform is ideal for:
- Multi-stop itineraries with accommodation, transfers, and privately guided activities
- Self-drive adventures with elevated accommodation and local experiences
- Private group travel such as family reunions, friends’ trips, or association travel
TravelLocal is not suited for: adding transfers or activities to trips already booked elsewhere, standalone rental car bookings without activities or accommodation, or clients looking to join group departure tours.
Does TravelLocal include international flights?
No — itineraries focus entirely on the destination. International flights are excluded so you retain full flexibility to manage your client’s long-haul airfare as you prefer. Where needed, domestic flights within the destination can be integrated into the itinerary by the DMC partner.
What budget levels do TravelLocal’s DMC partners work with?
DMC partners work with a range of budgets. The minimum accommodation standard is comfortable 3-star properties, though most travelers opt for 4- or 5-star.
As a rough guide for 10-day trips per person in some of our most popular destinations (two sharing, excluding flights):
- Italy: from $5,300 per person (travelers typically spend $8,780)
- Greece: from $4,000 per person (travelers typically spend $6,410)
- Japan: from $4,200 per person (travelers typically spend $7,430)
- Peru: from $2,500 per person (travelers typically spend $4,300)
Can itineraries be changed once planning begins?
Yes — in fact, that’s encouraged. DMC partners thrive on iteration. They actively invite you and your clients to tweak and amend itineraries as many times as needed to get every detail right. There are no off-the-shelf packages; everything is built around your client’s specific preferences.
